CH-CH Students Produce "Snowception" Snow Day Video

The announcement of a snow day is always a cheerful event for students, but the Digital Video class at Chapel Hill-Chauncy Hall School in Waltham, MA, created even more excitement with the release of their snow day announcement video. The video, titled “Snowception”, places students in the dreams of their Head of School, Lance Conrad, with one goal, “convince him to call a snow day.” The video then traces Conrad’s dreams as he dresses as Adele to sing “Hello”, stars in his own 90’s sitcom, and ultimately faces off with actor Shia Labeouf.

 

The video was the creation of Chapel Hill-Chauncy Hall School’s Digital Video class, where students worked for nearly two months, scripting, storyboarding, shooting and editing the short film.

 

“Once we started brainstorming ideas for the snow day video, it was clear that this was going to be something special,” said Matt Soule, Digital Video Teacher. “It was an ambitious project that required multiple locations, actors, green screens and lots of editing work, but they brought so much passion every day, and pulled together to complete it.”

 

When students approached Conrad with the request to wear a wig for the Adele sequence, he didn’t hesitate to say yes, and jump onboard with the project. “Calling a snow day is a tough part of my job,” said Conrad. “This is an opportunity for me to have fun with the students, and create something unique.”

 

Next, the Digital Video class plans to attend the New Hampshire Primaries to interview Presidential candidates and create their own news program.
