CH-CH Students Inducted to National Honor Society

On May 4th, Chapel Hill-Chauncy Hall School held an induction ceremony for the new members of the National Honor Society. The requirements of a membership in NHS include excellence in leadership skills, community service, scholarship and one’s character.

As Oluwa S. ’15 gave the opening remarks for the ceremony, she stressed the impact these students have had, “This society is not about getting straight A’s, but it’s about having a strong voice and impact on the community,” said Oluwa. “You are all individuals who others look up to, you give back to your community, and you dedicate yourself to improving your character to mark your place in the world.”

Each new inductee was introduced by a current member of the CH-CH chapter of NHS. Throughout the event, each student’s dedication to the greater community was shared to a full assembly hall.

Today, it is estimated that more than one million students participate in activities of the National Honor Society and National Junior Honor Society.  NHS chapters are found in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, many U.S. Territories, and Canada.  Chapter membership not only recognizes students for their accomplishments, but challenges them to develop further through active involvement in school activities and community service.
