May 21st Art Showcase at CH-CH: As we near the end of the year at Chapel Hill-Chauncy Hall, the students from our various art classes will be showcasing some of their best work. On May 21st and 22nd, we will have events including an AP art show, Ceramics show, Film Night, new Mankiw Family Gallery opening, and our Spring Concert. Come see the impressive collection of work that these students have been working on all year!
Ceramics Show: 6:30 – 7:15 p.m., Dance Studio The Ceramics Show will showcase the work of our ceramics classes in Wheel Throwing I & II. This will be a collection of the best work from throughout the year ranging from cylinders created on the wheel, to canopic jars and hand built sculptures.
AP Art Show: 6:30 – 7:15 p.m., Barn Gallery This show is the last in our series of AP student art shows with work from Ben Hilf and Lizzie Rundell. This capstone event is the culmination of our AP student’s work, and they are excited to showcase what they have done. Join us at 6:30 p.m. in the Barn Gallery to see projects in photography and illustration.
Mankiw Family Gallery Opening: 6:30 – 7:30 p.m., The Commons The Mankiw Family Gallery is pleased to announce its new art show featuring work from recent alumni Grace Black and Maya Reardon and current AP Studio Art students Stephen Ellias, Ben Hilf, Lizzie Rundell, Jonah Spector, Robert Tiwan, and Matteo Triolo. The show will take place May 21 - August 30, 2013.
The opening reception with the artists is on Tuesday, May 21st from 6:30 - 7:30 PM.
Student Film Night: 7:30 – 8:45 p.m., The Commons Assembly Hall Lights, camera, action! At 7:30 p.m. in the Commons Assembly Hall, we will be showing the four major projects done by students in the Digital Video class over the course of the 2012-2013 academic year. Projects range from news stories about CH-CH campus life to abstract music videos. Snacks will be served!
Exhibitions and performances play a major role in student life at CH-CH and we offer many visual and performing arts shows each school year. All of our student shows are held in the Barn and Dining Hall Galleries and our performances are held in both the Barn Theatre and The CH-CH Commons. All shows are free and open to the public.
