Individual Learning Style Profiles
The Learning Center develops Individual Learning Style Profiles for all students at CH-CH. This allows the faculty to create lessons to engage students’ strengths.
Individualized Strategies
The Learning Center teachers work with the entire CH-CH faculty to develop classroom strategies that address students unique Learning Styles and Multiple Intelligences.
Learning Style Inventory
Each student completes a “learning style inventory” in order to help the students and their teachers unlock appropriate learning strategies.
Ongoing Communication between School and Family
Parents receive a weekly online progress report for their student. Parents can view these reports through a password-protected website and will have 24 hour access to this information. The reports are written by their student’s teachers and outline the quality of the student’s progress in every subject, highlight the student’s achievements and areas that need attention.
Faculty Advisor and Advisory group
All students are given a faculty Advisor and an advisory group. These advisory groups meet weekly to discuss topics ranging from social adjustment to high school to individual academic performance.
Online resources
Parents are able to log into their personal account to view their student’s academic and after school activity schedules. Parents have access to class notes from teachers and daily assignments are made available online so there is never any guesswork about what is due, and when.
Diverse & Supportive
At Chapel Hill-Chauncy Hall School we are proud of our tradition of diversity among our student body. Nearly 25% of our students are international which means they bring their culture and world experiences to our campus. In addition, our American students come from over 30 cities and towns in Massachusetts and across the country. Of those students, nearly 20% are students of color.
What about our ACADEMIC DIVERSITY?
Based on the theory of Multiple Intelligences, we know that 100% of our students learn differently than other students…even students in their same classroom. Also at CH-CH, nearly 70% of our students have been diagnosed with some learning difference, including things like ADD, ADHD or Dyslexia. All of our students may need academic support at some point, and whether you need a lot of support or just a daily check-in with your teacher to make sure you are on the right track, that is exactly what CH-CH can provide.
Extra Help
Each academic day has a 25-30 minute block of “Extra Help” worked into the schedule. During this time there are no classes being taught on campus. Instead, all of the teachers are in their classrooms providing extra time to meet with their students. This time allows students to have questions answered or concepts explained without taking time away from their other classes or after-school activities.
