At CH-CH, we know that every learner enters the classroom with a unique set of intellectual, personal, and academic strengths. Every day, in every class, our teachers strive to connect the material and skills being taught to those strengths and in doing so extend and further develop our students’ overall capacities and performance. We create multiple paths to mastery of the skills and content provided, ensuring that all students have the opportunity to engage with the material in a meaningful and deep way. In our intimate classrooms, with an average class size of just over ten, teachers leverage students’ strengths, show them different avenues to academic success, allow them to develop as learners, and help them grow in their self-advocacy and self-confidence.  It is an experience that is nothing short of transformative.
In short, we teach the way students learn.
At CH-CH, we know that learning also takes place outside of the classroom.  That's why we expect students to participate in community service activities as a means of further learning. Through community service and leadership, we can learn more about our community and world, and that through these experiences, we can also develop a deeper understanding of ourselves.

The community service program at CH-CH includes twenty-six hours of service in the senior year, and more than ninety hours over the course of four years.

MI in the Classroom

"We're learning about the Industrial Revolution right now, and my assignment is to draw how three estates would be set up in France at the time.  A unique project like this really helps me understand the material."

We Teach the Way Students Learn

Chapel Hill - Chauncy Hall School is a small, coeducational college preparatory school dedicated to teaching the way students learn. Our faculty, over 70% of whom have advanced degrees, offers instruction tailored to individual learning styles and strengths, empowering our students to achieve their potential. Our multiple intelligences approach to teaching and learning both values and addresses the different ways students learn. Our curriculum challenges and engages students, with support seamlessly integrated into the classes and culture of the School. All our students are accepted into college or university with an emphasis on finding the best fit for their ambitions and interests. Diversity thrives in a social climate of acceptance. A dynamic mix of day and boarding students energizes our campus and creates opportunities for students to engage with each other in the arts, athletics, campus activities and community service. Our alumni/ae describe their experience at CH-CH as truly transformational. Our private, independent school is located ten miles from Boston.
