“My experience as a student here made me want to come back...I was able to gain more confidence and be successful here. I wanted to give that experience back to someone else.”

You are a CH-CH alumnus. What about the school brought you back as an educator?
My experience as a student here made me want to come back because of the small classroom sizes. I know if I went to a public high school as a student, I would have gotten lost and slipped between the cracks. I was able to gain more confidence and be successful here. I wanted to give that experience back to someone else.

You were a Teaching Fellow in the science program before you became a full-time teacher at CH-CH. What about the program helped you with your teaching?
When I was in college, part of the curriculum included observing and helping out in classrooms, but mostly in middle school. As a fellow, I was able to observe the class that I would be teaching along with any other subject I wanted to see. This gave me the perspective of seeing the other teaching strategies, styles, and paces of teachers here.  Still, observing classes is not the same as teaching them. Having a smaller teaching load than a full-time teacher was really important in my year as a fellow so I could better prepare myself for a full-time role and understand the expectations.
