Coach Maguire Wins E.I.L. Wrestling Coach of the Year
The past few years have been exciting for the Charger Wrestling team, finishing with a record of 10-3 this season, sending four wrestlers to New England's, and sending two wrestlers to the National Tournament last season. Coaches Conor Maguire and Scott Bloom are receiving some much-deserved recognition for their commitment to the wrestling program. Coach Maguire has just been named the E.I.L. Wrestling Coach of the Year and Coach Bloom has been nominated for New England Wrestling Coach of the Year.
Both of these coaches are dedicated to the athlete's experience. They strive to establish an environment that focuses on fun, improvement of skills and ultimately, excellence.
“They fought for me in every way they could, and I fought for them the best way I could,” said Nelson Andrade ’16. “I am extremely appreciative for what they have done for me and can honestly say that I would not have preferred any other coaches sitting on my corner of the mat.”
Coaches Maguire and Bloom complement each other nicely, recognizing and working off of each other's strengths for the betterment of the program. Coach Maguire thanks Coach Bloom for being a "fantastic skills-based fountain of knowledge for our kids". Our athletic program has been fortunate to have such an excellent pair of coaches working together.
Coach Bloom states, "Any time coaches receive recognition it is a reflection on how dedicated the athletes were and how hard they worked every day. We had a great group of guys and we are excited about next season."
