The Commons is OPEN

We are pleased to proclaim to the Chapel Hill - Chauncy Hall School community that “The Commons” opened on schedule with a reception and facility reveal on Friday, September 7th, 2012. This marks an historic moment in the School’s campus facilities development. An official ribbon-cutting featured Head of School Lance Conrad, President Siri Akal Khalsa, Board of Trustees Chairperson Anna Colton, and Board of Trustees member Eric Thorgerson. Jeannette McCarthy, Mayor of the City of Waltham, was also on hand to present an official city proclamation. The CH-CH community was able to view the results of renovation and repurposing as the school introduced a new assembly & recital hall, four classrooms in world languages and music, a new art gallery, school bookstore and student commons.

As part of our Realizing our Future, Honoring our Past capital campaign, we have been able to successfully turn this historic building around in a matter of months after our September 2011 purchase of the property. To date, the School has secured nearly $1.1MM in gifts and pledges toward our goal. This was a wonderful opportunity for the CH-CH community to come together and celebrate our collective vision and support for the School.

Looking to the future, CH-CH will kick-off its monthly author/artist series, 2nd Wednesdays at the CH-CH Commons, on October 10, 2012 with author Dr. Michael Thompson (Raising Cain; Homesick and Happy). We will be hosting Daniel Palmer (Delirious; Helpless) on November 14, and world-renowned New York Times bestselling author Michael Connelly on January 9. All talks and performers are free and open to the public and set to begin at 7:00 p.m. There will be book-signings and small receptions after each of these events.
