CH-CH Celebrates Alumnae’s 100th Birthday!
Chapel Hill-Chauncy Hall School recently received a special alumnae visit from Winifred Kneisel, a 1933 graduate from the Waltham School for Girls (Chapel Hill School). A longtime resident of Waltham, Winifred visited CH-CH to discuss her time here, as well as celebrate her 100th birthday. Winifred toured the campus on a golf cart and it brought back many of her memories from the School 80 years ago.
“I remember meeting the other girls by the spiral staircase in Wilkins Hall before class,” said Winifred “but when I was here there was a big tennis court in front of it!”
After graduating, Winifred attended Simmons College before becoming a tax accountant, which she practiced until she was 95 years old. She talked about many of her teachers by name, and specifically recalling the impact that one English teacher, Ms. Viets.
Some of her favorite memories came from the various clubs, dances, and challenging classes.
Winifred still resides in Waltham and is an active gardener!
