School Nurse

School Nurse

The Chapel Hill-Chauncy Hall School is seeking a collaborative and hard-working individual to serve as our School Nurse. As a school that embraces a Multiple Intelligences philosophy, we seek a nursing leader who believes that it is not “how smart you are” but rather “how you are smart.” The School Nurse will work closely with our students, families, faculty, and staff to foster a healthy and supportive school community.

About the Role

Our School Nurse is far more than a healthcare provider — this leader helps shape the health culture of our school. Working independently under state and agency guidelines, the nurse brings expert clinical judgment and vision to every aspect of our health services program. This role incorporates both hands-on care and a broad perspective on adolescent wellness. In addition, there is a possibility of significant summer work in our camp program for additional compensation.
The School Nurse reports to the Director of Counseling and Wellness and will collaborate closely with the health and wellness team, composed of school counselors and an Athletic Trainer. We hope for a start date of July 1, 2026, but are committed to finding the right candidate for the role.

Clinical Leadership & Policy

  • Be present when school is in session from 8 am- 4 pm, as well as scheduled professional development days of similar hours
  • Serve as the primary health care consultant for administrators, staff, students, and families
  • Manage and refine our system for identifying students with special health care needs
  • Obtain physician orders as needed; ensure proper packaging and dispensing of medications to trained staff

Program Development & Education

  • Train and develop staff who administer health services and medications
  • Train and recertify faculty in First Aid/CPR
  • Implement and refine a middle school health curriculum (should this be of interest to you!)

Administration & Operations

  • Create and manage the health office budget
  • Ensure all health services and activities are thoroughly documented
  • Partner with local organizations to provide on-site health clinics for students
  • Coordinate transportation to off-campus medical appointments and urgent care visits
  • Assist in the transition from school to summer programs for the Running Brook Camp Health Office

Community & Committee Engagement

  • Serve as a member of the Emergency Management Team, Support Team, and Student Life Committee
  • Provide professional health leadership to school administrators and staff

What We’re Looking For
