Wrestlers Ratchet up Intensity

Chris Barker

The Big Blue Machine was firing on all cylinders this past Friday as it defeated arch-rival Landmark School by a score of 51-30. Senior Sam Giler set the tone of the meet in the opening bout with a convincing 8-3 victory over his foe, thereby avenging a loss to his opponent earlier in the season.

That seemed to ignite a spark as the Chargers continued to attack their opponents very aggressively, ultimately winning seven of the ten matches wrestled. Pins were recorded by senior Jared Williams, tri-captains Yasin Fairley, Dan Benson, and Jake Schuster, and sophomores Mark Corocoran and James Costigan. Contributing points via forfeits were freshman Cooper Horton and junior Jacob Courant.

After the meet Coach Barker told the troops that their intensity was the greatest he had seen from a Chargers wrestling team, ever. With the victory, the Big Blue Machine maintains its second place position in the league standings. Rock on Wrestlers!
