Teaching Fellows

Hannah Barry, Former CH-CH Fellow

Working as a teaching fellow has allowed me to develop a strong relationship with my students in many different settings. My primary role on campus is a to be a teacher, however, I also serve as a three-sport coach, a dorm parent, and an advisor. By getting to know my students throughout the day in many different capacities, I have become a much more effective educator and mentor.

The Teaching Fellows Program at CH-CH

The Chapel Hill-Chauncy Hall School is seeking three creative, progressively minded, and hard-working individuals to participate in the CH-CH Teaching Fellows program.  In particular, we are searching for fellows in the science, humanities, and visual arts fields.

As a school dedicated to Multiple Intelligences philosophy, we seek aspiring teachers who want to develop an ability to reach all learners and believe, as we do, that it is not “how smart you are” but rather “how you are smart.”  Working closely with an experienced faculty member, their department chair, and our Dean of Faculty, Fellows will observe and teach a class section, meet weekly with the Dean of Faculty for ongoing professional development, participate in the residential life program as a houseparent, and work with students in our co-curricular program.

Through this immersion in and reflection on independent school life, CH-CH Teaching Fellows will grow as both teachers and learners and emerge from the program ready to take on full roles as educators in the years to come.

Successful candidates for this position will have:
  • A creative and progressive mindset
  • Willingness to work hard and have fun
  • An academic background, preferably a major, in the content area they intend to teach
  • Experience working with children, preferably adolescents
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute positively to our co-curricular program, particularly our athletics & theater program
To apply for this position, please email a cover letter, resume, and three references to: Josh Bubar, Assistant Head of School, at jbubar@chch.org.  No phone calls, please.  Chapel Hill-Chauncy Hall School is an equal-opportunity employer.
