From trying a sport for the first time to competing in a national prep championship, athletics at CH-CH are for both new and seasoned athletes.
Students and Coaches Discuss Athletics at CH-CH
Let's Go Chargers!
The best part about sports at CH-CH is that they’re open to both seasoned and new athletes. We’re willing to teach the sport and make sure an athlete has the opportunity to be a member of whatever team they choose. This is a school where everyone is a member of the team.
We offer a wide selection of competitive team sports as well as non-competitive sports and activities. Our JV level programs focus on participation, skill development, and the opportunity to gain new experiences. The varsity-level programs will focus more on skill development, competition, and the pursuit of excellence.
Because our athletics and activities program is so vital to the CH-CH experience, families often have specific questions about league affiliation, student participation, and other aspects of the program. Please contact our Athletic Director, Lori White at 781-314-0850 or lwhite@chch.org with any programmatic questions.
Congratulations to Ally U. (‘30) on being named the 2026 Independent Girls Conference Co-MVP! Ally is a versatile guard whose skill set influences every aspect of the game. She averaged 15.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 4.4 steals per game. Ally put up a 22-point IGC semifinal performance and 17-point championship game performance to help lead her team to their first IGC DI Championship since 2009. Coach Jacquie Macdonald notes that Ally has stepped into the role of primary point guard despite typically playing the wing and “She has worked diligently on her vision and decision-making throughout the season, and her growth is evident in her increasing assist numbers and improved court awareness.”
Congratulations to Simonas G. (‘26) on being named the 2026 Massachusetts Bay Independent League MVP! Simas has averaged 13.6 ppg, 7.4 rpg, and 2.7 apg over the course of the season. Coach Josh Bubar notes, “Simas is the engine that drives our offense with his ability to get to the paint and score or distribute the basketball, and everyone around him benefits from his gravity as a scorer. As a defender he can guard all five positions, and at 6'5" with good athleticism he provides rim protection in many situations. He is a consummate team player who gives advice to younger teammates, encourages a high level of effort in our group, and approaches practices and games with an invariably positive attitude.”
Congratulations to the Varsity Girls’ and Boys’ Basketball teams on winning the Independent Girls Conference DI Championship and the Massachusetts Bay Independent League DI Championship!
The girls team entered the tournament as the #2 seed eventually taking on the #1 seeded Montrose School on the road for the championship. The team defeated Montrose 53-43 to earn their first IGC DI Championship since 2009! “We’re so proud of the effort our players put into our program throughout the season - we have stressed all year that “little things are what makes big things happen” and it’s nice that we got to see the results of that adage - the “little things” - continuous effort, boxing out, playing hard through each drill, etc. - led to a “big thing” - an IGC league championship season!” - Coach Jacquie Macdonald
The boys also entered the tournament as the #2 seed facing off against #1 seeded Gann Academy in the championship game. Despite having lost the first two match ups versus Gann, the team came out ready and defeated the Heifers 68-57. “We grew as a team throughout the season culminating in a total team effort to win the MBIL Championship” - Coach Josh Bubar. This is the Chargers second championship in three years.
Both teams await a potential bid to the NEPSAC Class C tournament. Congratulations, and GO CHARGERS!
Congratulations to the Chargers boys lacrosse team on winning the 2025 MBIL Championship! The team went undefeated in league play and finished with an overall 10-3 record to earn their third league title in four years.
“This team overcame a lot of core turnover this year to have one of the most successful seasons in team history. The players worked exceptionally hard and developed throughout the season.” - Coach MacPhail
Congratulations to Romeo Martinez (‘26) on being named the 2025 MBIL Boys Lacrosse MVP! As a 2 year captain, Romeo helped lead the team to his second MBIL championship for the Chargers. He finished the season with a 73% save percentage, giving up only 3.5 goals per game in league play. He was instrumental in organizing the defense and clears. Throughout the season, his strong understanding of the game allowed him to lead players on the field in decision-making and setup and he used his athleticism to make goals difficult for opponents.
“Romeo stepped into a greater leadership role on the team this year as the sole returning captain and made a tremendous impact on team success through his play and his presence.” - Coach MacPhail
Congratulations to Cy Perkins (‘25) on being named the 2025 MBIL DII Ultimate Frisbee MVP! As captain, Cy led the Chargers to their first Ultimate Frisbee championship title in school history. Throughout the season Cy’s athleticism and elite field sense were unmatched. He always knew where to be and his strategic timing and ability to exploit mismatches kept defenders guessing. He brought speed, agility, and endurance to every point—routinely making high-effort plays look effortless.
“As a captain, Cy led by example. He brought a steady, competitive spirit to every practice and
game, raising the standard for everyone around him. His presence on the field was confident
and composed, and off the field, he helped build a culture of respect and accountability. He was
a voice of encouragement, and his belief in his teammates never wavered.” - Coach DiOrio
This spring the Chapel Hill-Chauncy Hall School Ultimate Frisbee team made history earning the title of MBIL DII Co-Champions - the first ultimate frisbee championship in program history. The team went 4-2 in league play but what stood out most was not the trophy, but the culture that this group built.
"This was a team that valued growth, inclusion, hustle, and joy. Our sideline energy was unmatched. Every player contributed, every voice mattered, and every point was earned through effort and trust. We were led by a trio of captains—Tucker D. ('26), Cy P. ('25), and Toby R. ('25)—who set the tone for sportsmanship, resilience, and teamwork." - Coach DiOrio
In his first season wrestling, senior Calvin d. (‘25) has made an immediate impact on the mat. He recently won 2nd place at the Eastern Independent League Championships qualifying him for the New England Championship Tournament. At the EIL tournament Calvin started off the day with a spectacular comeback pin to win against the 3rd seed. In his next match Calvin wrestled the 2nd seed and put on a dominant performance winning the match by pin and avenging his previous loss.
Calvin will head to Phillips Exeter on Friday to compete as the 6th seed in the New England Tournament. You can follow the action on the NEPSWA live stream by clicking the link below:
Coach Ian MacPhail has been named the 2024 New England Eastern Coach of the Year by USA Lacrosse for the second time in three years. He is a coach that athletes love to play for which is clear by the roster growth under his leadership. Regardless of an athlete’s prior experience or skill, they are welcome and embraced. Senior captain Nick D. reflects that, “Coach asked me to play lacrosse my sophomore year, and it truly changed my life. He pushed me on the field and made me fall in love with the sport.”
Coach MacPhail’s commitment to skill development, team culture, and sharing his passion for lacrosse has led the Chargers to win three league titles since 2018 as well as earn two bids to the McCoy Cup.
