“I enjoy the student-centered classroom where teachers and students work together to tackle challenging issues and find meaningful and creative ways to share knowledge with one another.
When did you know that you wanted to teach?
I have always been a curious learner as I have many former teachers whom I admire tremendously. I come from a family of educators and grew up on the campus of a boarding school - so some might say it was in my blood. But it was in college that I confirmed my chosen path. During a semester abroad, I tutored French students who were learning English and I was so impressed by their determination and commitment. They were also so appreciative of the perspective I could offer them. When I returned to college in Philadelphia, I volunteered to assist an 8th-grade teacher in a large, underperforming, inner-city public school. Here I was greeted by an entirely different experience but these students were also eager to learn and wanted to find success, despite the large classes, limited resources, and overextended teachers. These two vastly different experiences helped me recognize that I wanted to be in a school community where I could teach and learn alongside dedicated colleagues and students.

What attracted you to CH-CH?
I was, and continue to be impressed by the school’s commitment to its mission of “teaching the way students learn.” CH-CH’s approach to teaching is deliberate, thoughtful, and productive. I enjoy being part of a community of learners who value and promote the Multiple Intelligences approach, along with Differentiated Instruction.
