Chapel Hill Cross Country traveled around the corner - literally - to Gann Academy, which is the venue for the league championship at the end of October. Their course involves varied terrain and is a single loop, so the runners encounter something new at every step. Unfortunately, the course falls a bit short of 5k so times should be viewed with that in mind. Rain was expected at the meet, but the skies emptied the night before, making room for a beautifully clear day with perfect running conditions. Tylar DeWitt came in first for the Chargers, 22nd in the field of 127 runners, with a time of 21:06. Alex Jaffe clearly improved on his time of last week, coming in right after Tylar with a time of 21:08. Armando Rodriguez was next in 32nd place with a time of 21:36. Tim Noonan crossed the line in 58th place with a time of 23:10. Grant Li finished directly after Tim, recording the same time. Emilee Purdy came in 64th with a time of 23:55. Yi Jie Dai was 67th, finishing in 24:19. TJ Tan came in 86th with a time of 25:50. Robert Tiwan was the next Chapel Hill runner to finish (92nd place) at 26:09. Kent Zwillinger finished soon after (94th place) in 26:14. Jon Atwood crossed the line in 29:56 with Max Lemke, Patrick Brosnan, and Ryan Kiley close behind (30:35, 30:39, and 31:00 respectively). Dana Marecheau and Daniel Donnelly both finished in 53:12. The Chargers continue to work hard in practices and, with each race, grow more used to competition. Our next meet is at CSW on Thursday, September 27th.
