What is your role at CH-CH?
I teach English, Skills and Academic Support, and I am a part of the junior team. I will also be helping assist the Girls’ JV basketball team in the winter and the Girls’ Varsity Lacrosse team in the spring. My responsibilities as an English teacher are to help the students increase their writing and analytical skills as well as their critical thinking skills through discussion, formal essays, and more creative approaches. My goal is to encourage students to enjoy reading and to find books they enjoy. As a SAS teacher, my responsibilities are to support the students through individual help on assignments, time management, making plans and goals to complete work thoroughly and to sharpen their writing skills.
What do you enjoy most about working with your students?
The students at CH-CH inspire me because they all have different stories and personalities, which creates a unique and truly caring environment, one which you cannot find anywhere else. At CH-CH, I love hearing about the students' interesting hobbies and passions. The students' interests and determination to make positive, lasting changes to the school and world are the cornerstones of why our community is truly special. I love being a teacher at CH-CH and my students inspire me each and every day to continue to learn about English, but also to help make their experience at CH-CH the best possible.
How do you think CH-CH’s approach to teaching benefits students?
Multiple Intelligences/Differentiated Instruction approach benefits the students at CH-CH because it enables the students to showcase their talents and abilities in multiple ways. Through creative art projects, analyzing song lyrics and art pieces, writing, and expression through various media, each student has the opportunity to succeed. By learning material and content in multiple forms, the students are able to process the information, essentially engaging their interest. With English, students are able to access the content material and process books and texts through discussion, individual writing assignments, and more creative media.
