Playing in a constant drizzle, the CHCH golf team earned its first win of the year Wednesday by a score of 2-1 against Brimmer and May. The win evened the Chargers record at 1-1 for the year. After a mid-season shakeup, Brimmer was able to field only three payers, but despite these diminished numbers, Brimmer retained some talented players, and all matches yielded some high level results. CHCH number one Max Allen extended his win streak to six. He led by two with two holes to play, and he defeated Brimmer number one on the ninth hole. Max remains undefeated in his career here at CHCH. Playing from the number two spot, junior Peter Loar notched his first win of the year, sealing a 3 and 2 victory with a putt on the seventh green. The win confirmed that Peter was wise to return to the golf team after a sophomore year stint on the soccer team. Number three Brendan Connolly led by one on the seventh tee-box, but his drive went out of bounds. He lost the hole, his momentum faltered, and his opponent finished strong to seal a 2 up victory on the ninth hole. In all, the match was highly competitive, and we look forward to the rematch on October 17 at Putterham.
