CHCH Bench Changes the Game

George Corwin
After a four day weekend, the girls had the dreaded "Monday" game on Wednesday. Despite trying to think about this over the weekend, the team got off to a very slow start mentally and physically. Without the energy or intensity needed, the Chargers were unable to put their foot down during the first 20-30 minutes. The game changed when the team started looking to the bench for answers. Cate Hicks '22, Taylor Mittelsteadt '19, AJ Popolow '22, and Mel Tevnan '21 each did their part to turn the game around. With energy being what was lacking, they each entered with enough intensity to kickstart the rest of the team. From that point the Chargers took control, going into the half up 1-0 before controlling the second and finishing the game 4-0. They have been working hard all year waiting their turn and really stepped up on Wednesday for CHCH. Additional shoutouts: Leila Cavero '21 got her second start of the year in goal and earned her first shutout. Though she didn't stop a pk this game, she has shown the ability to perform at as high a level as any of her opponents when called upon. She's reliable and ready to handle the stress of the situation. Sarah Murphy '20 and Sophia BG '21 each added two to their goal totals.
