Congratulations, Dr. John Kattwinkel!

On February 20, 2008, Dr. John Kattwinkel (Chauncy Hall Class of 1959) was one of twelve individuals who received the Commonwealth of Virginia's Outstanding Faculty Award, recognizing superior accomplishments in teaching, research, and public service. The Outstanding Faculty Awards are the highest honor for faculty at Virginia’s public and private colleges and universities. Dr. Kattwinkel is Professor of Pediatrics and has been on the faculty for the University of Virginia for 33 years.

After completing a year of post graduate work at Chauncy Hall, Dr. Kattwinkel went on to graduate from Harvard Medical. He then completed his residency, fellowship, and research training at Duke, Case Western Reserve, and the National Institutes of Health. He was Chief of the Division of Neonatology and Director of the UVa Neonatal Intensive Care Unit from 1974-2006. He now continues his teaching, research, and clinical practice as the Charles Fuller Professor of Neonatology.
