A lesson in pride, boys lax

Freebody, LAX PRIDE
We hopped on the bus with the baseball team yesterday to head down the road to LCA. Upon arriving on the field the boys had 12 minutes to get dressed and warmed up for the game. The chargers took an early lead of 3-1 and then LCA came back on a 4-0 run going into half time. As the Chargers walked over to their corner for the halftime talk with their heads hung low, down 5-3, captains Igor and Henry decided to pump the team up. The boys came off the bench with a new vigor and desire to not lose the game.

LCA scored their 6th goal, which was taken away because of an illegal stick, and the tides had turned. The Chargers rallied together and scored a goal while man up to make it 5-4. From this point forth the game became a 100% amazing defensive effort with Nate Friedman making some phenomenal saves and our Defenders James Kim, Igor Reis, and Sean Mulvehill thwarting the efforts of the LCA attack at every turn. With 10 seconds remaining in regulation Henry tips the ball over his defenders head and Jae Lee runs in, scoops up the ground ball and finds himself one on one against the LCA goalie. He shoots, he scores, CHCH is in going into OT for the second time in two years vs. LCA.

Each team had about 7 opportunities to score during the two overtime periods and neither team was successful, with 3 seconds remaining on the clock during the second OT our exhausted defensive starters in desperation to get into the third OT made one mistake pinning LCA's best attackmen one on one with Nate. The chargers lost in double OT 6-5 and played a game of pride that neither team will ever forget.
