Chargers Boys Lax rally vs Waring 10-8

Freebody

Today the boys in black opened the season on the upper field versus The Waring School. The chargers dropped a quick goal to Waring about 10 seconds into the game and then Waring followed with another goal minutes later. The chargers have an extreme mix of young and old this year as well as experienced and beginner players. We rallied back to tie the game and entered the halftime chat ahead 6-5. The new “deuces” offense run by our two senior attackmen KTB and Henry Amoah was testing the double up zone of Waring. Henry managed to pop 5 goals in against the Waring goalie and he proved he should have a great senior year. He and KTB did a great job running the offense and are beginning to understand their roles as feeders this year. First year attackmen Sam Melanson scored his first ever varsity goal this afternoon. Go Sam!

Our midfield lines saw a ton of minutes and rotated in and out well in their new offensive patterns. Sophomore faceoff men Jae Lee and Ji Sung managed to win the majority of the face-offs for us and Junior Minsoo Cho was near flawless from the center X. As our attack gets stronger the midfield will see the ball more and take some great layup shots for us. Much Kudos goes out to all our middies for performing so well today on the upper field on defense and offense.

Freshmen goaltender Jason Lee got to experience his first full game in net and with lots of practice he will be an amazing goalie. He had two crucial saves with two minutes to go in the game which enabled us to win 10-8. Not enough can be said about how hard all of our longpoles worked today. The closed defense led by Senior Captain Igor Reis and Junior Captain Sean Mulvehill coupled with Sophomore James Kim rallied around their freshmen goalie and reveled in an amazing defense effort. Senior Captain Ian Doing and Junior Steve Lee, our longstick middies, saw some great time on our twenty plus face-offs. They are sharing time as our LSM’s and did a superb job today. Thibault's defense will surely be something to reckon with in the upcoming weeks.

This Saturday morning we head down to play last year’s league champs Portsmouth Abbey in Rhode Island, this will be a great game and enable us to play the entire team for half the game each.  Wish us luck and we are off to an exciting start. Charge!!!!!!!
