Boys and Girls Basketball Win League Championships!
Congratulations to the Varsity Girls’ and Boys’ Basketball teams on winning the Independent Girls Conference DI Championship and the Massachusetts Bay Independent League DI Championship!
The girls team entered the tournament as the #2 seed eventually taking on the #1 seeded Montrose School on the road for the championship. The team defeated Montrose 53-43 to earn their first IGC DI Championship since 2009! “We’re so proud of the effort our players put into our program throughout the season - we have stressed all year that “little things are what makes big things happen” and it’s nice that we got to see the results of that adage - the “little things” - continuous effort, boxing out, playing hard through each drill, etc. - led to a “big thing” - an IGC league championship season!” - Coach Jacquie Macdonald
The boys also entered the tournament as the #2 seed facing off against #1 seeded Gann Academy in the championship game. Despite having lost the first two match ups versus Gann, the team came out ready and defeated the Heifers 68-57. “We grew as a team throughout the season culminating in a total team effort to win the MBIL Championship” - Coach Josh Bubar. This is the Chargers second championship in three years.
Both teams await a potential bid to the NEPSAC Class C tournament. Congratulations, and GO CHARGERS!
